See courses, fees & dates

If you pay for a course yourself to upgrade your skills, you can reduce your income tax through the education fees (self) relief.

How much can you claim?

Year of assessment What you can claim
YA2026 (courses paid in 2026) Up to RM2,000 for upskilling or self-enhancement courses, within the overall RM7,000 education fees relief
From YA2027 (Budget 2027 proposal) Up to RM3,000 for upskilling or self-enhancement courses in TVET fields – for you or your spouse – within an overall RM7,000 "Education and Skills Training Fees" relief

The overall RM7,000 education relief also covers recognised courses at tertiary level in technical, vocational, industrial, scientific or technology fields – for example, a diploma you fund yourself.

Do MTTC courses qualify?

For the upskilling relief, the course must be run by a body recognised by the Director General of Skills Development (JPK). MTTC College is a JPK-registered TVET college, and our short courses are in technical and vocational fields – Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, 3D modelling, rendering and AI for design.

Example

You take Revit Architecture Essential and Smart BIM Design with AI in 2027 and pay the fees yourself. You can claim up to RM3,000 of those fees as relief – reducing your taxable income by that amount.

How to claim

  1. Keep the official receipt from MTTC College (we issue one for every payment).
  2. When you file your e-BE / e-B form, enter the amount under education fees (self).
  3. Keep your receipts for 7 years in case LHDN asks for them.

Is your company paying?

If your employer pays, you can't claim the personal relief – but your company may be able to claim it through HRD Corp. See how to claim HRD Corp for a short course.

This guide is general information, not tax advice. Tax rules can change – check with LHDN or your tax adviser before claiming.
