TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) is education that prepares you for a specific career through hands-on practice – instead of mostly lectures and exams.
Is a TVET diploma recognised?
Yes. In Malaysia, TVET colleges and programmes are recognised by government bodies:
- JPK (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran) – the Department of Skills Development under the Ministry of Human Resources – registers skills training providers and awards the Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM).
- MQA (Malaysian Qualifications Agency) accredits programmes under the Malaysian Qualifications Framework.
MTTC College is registered with JPK, and its diploma programmes are MQA accredited.
Why students choose TVET
- You learn by doing – at MTTC, 70% of learning is practical.
- You start work sooner – about 2 years to graduate, instead of 4+ for foundation and degree.
- Employers want job-ready skills – software, portfolios and real project experience.
- You can still get a degree – MTTC diploma graduates can top up with SEGi University or Coventry University.
TVET is not a "second choice"
Malaysia's construction and creative industries are short of skilled people in BIM, digital construction and design. A good TVET diploma is a direct route into those jobs.
