Good news for working adults who invest in their own skills: Budget 2027 proposes raising the individual tax relief for upskilling and self-enhancement courses in TVET fields from RM2,000 to RM3,000, starting from the year of assessment 2027 – and it can now be claimed for yourself or your spouse.
The relief sits within the overall RM7,000 "Education and Skills Training Fees" relief, which also covers recognised technical and vocational courses at tertiary level – such as a self-funded diploma.
What this means for you
- Take a Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, 3D, rendering or AI short course at MTTC College and pay for it yourself → claim the fees as tax relief.
- Planning a bigger step? The Professional Certificate in BIM (PCBIM) builds a complete BIM skill set in about 3 months.
- For courses paid in 2026, the upskilling limit is RM2,000 (YA2026).
MTTC College is a JPK-registered TVET college. Keep your official receipt, and claim under education fees (self) when you file.
