PUTRAJAYA: The government decided on April 24 (Monday) declared as a public holiday throughout the country in addition to Day Installation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV, Sultan Muhammad V.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said pengisyiharan is based on Section 8 of the Public Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369) for Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
He said the Sabah and Sarawak state government was requested to take action in accordance with the laws of their respective states. "The government will hold two major events to mark the coronation of Yang di-Pertuan Agong who was appointed on December 13, 2016 to replace the Tuanku Abdul Halim expiring December 12 last year reign.
"On the morning of Monday, April 24, the Installation Ceremony will be held at the Hall of Istana Negara, while in the evening the Royal Banquet at the Banquet Hall of Istana Negara."In addition, Reading Yassin, Prayer Congratulations and special prayers will be held on Thursday, April 20 at the Putra Mosque, and showing Our King will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at the Royal Museum (the old Istana Negara)," he said in a statement here , today.
